Tip for 9/5/2008
Although lots of gardeners sow runner beans in pots under glass earlier in the season, many still swear by direct sowing outdoors at the base of the supporting canes. Do this now as they should not get shoots above the soil for a few weeks, when the danger of hard frost will have receded.
